Instructions for handling the vial prior to use:

• Don’t open lid of the vial before use
• Shelf life of vial is two years from the date of manufacture

Procedure for use:

• Open the vial cap and fill water up to arrow mark, directly from source. While opening the lid don’t touch inner side of the bottle or the lid
• Close the cap tightly and shake gently. Water will turn light brown
• Keep the filled vial at room temperature (250C to 350 C) away from direct sunlight for 24-48hrs
• If water turns black within 24-48 hrs, it is contaminated with pathogenic bacteria and is not fit for drinking
• Note: At room temperatures below 250C, use incubator for reliable results
• Storage: Store at room temperature in cool and dry place away from direct sunlight
• Disposal: Add few drops of disinfectant (phenyl/Dettol) and discard the vial. Preferable if autoclaving can be done
• Procedure for Testing your UV Filter (Aquaguard and others)
• You can also test whether your UV filter is working satisfactorily or not
• Fill one of the TARA Aquacheck vial with water before it enters the filter. Fill second vial with water which has passed through your UV filter. Mark your vials accordingly
• Follow the instructions mentioned and check the vials after 48hrs. If the water from the source turns black and that from the UV filter does not, your UV filter is working satisfactorily
• If both vials turn black, your water source is contaminated and also the UV filter is not purifying the contaminated water
• If the water from the source does not turn black and the vial from UV filter turns black, get the filter repaired

Procedure for Purification of bacterial contamination:

• Boil the water for 2 minutes in plains and 5 minutes in hilly areas
• Add 3 to 5 mg of bleaching powder to 1 litre of water. Mix the water thoroughly and let it stand for 30 minutes before use
